Lesson for Wednesday, July 26th

So basically what we talked about was trust.
To start the night off, we did the trust fall. It was a challenge, but we did it.

Then we read 1 kings 17:7-24. It is a story about how Elijah tested a women(mind you this was during the famine) by asking her to bring him a glass of water and a loaf of bread.

She tells him that she only had enough stuff to make her and her son thier last meal.
Elijah told her that her supply would not run out until the rains came.
She looks at him like he is crazy, but goes and does as he said. From that point on she trusted him just a little bit.

Later on her son becomes ill and dies. Elijah takes him to the upper room and prayes fervently to God, asking him to heal her son. God answers his prayer and through that, the women trust grew in Elijah and in God.

We talked about how the women trusted Elijah and what her actions were.
We also talked about how we could trust God in our own lives, 24/7.
I hope that this all makes sense. If it doesn't, just ask me questions.

Bryan's First Lesson since being gone! 7/23

Hi all... here is my first lesson since being gone...

Where the heart is (prayer)

Matthew 5:43-48
When is it hardest to pray? Who is it hardest to pray for? Our enemies. The Lord says to love them and pray for them because it is easy to pray for our loved ones, but there aren't rewards in that since it is easy. So what does it take for us to pray for our enemies since it isn't easy? A heart that is in the right place with God because you cannot do it alone.

Matthew 7:7-11
Age old question: Is it wrong to pray for things you want? No... the verses clearly indicates that God wants you to come to Him and ask Him for things. He desires to reward us. However, He knows what is best for us and sometimes when we don't get certain things we feel like He is punishing us when in reality He is keeping us from harm. So what does it take to ask God for things in the appropriate manner? A heart that desires ultimately for God's will to be done. A heart that is willing to listen just as much as ask.

Prayer is a conversation that builds a relationship with our Father, not a voice messaging service to leave our desires and wants with and expect to see results in 7-10 business days. It is an ongoing relationship that requires the act of laying our heart out there just as much as it requires us to listen and to be ready to hear His desire for our lives.

Challenge: to go into prayer with a prepared heart to allow God to speak and be ready for whatever His will is in our life whether or not we agree.

An Explanation

Hello this is Christopher, aka eriol, I'll give an explanation of my name esp. in light of this morning's jr-high parent meeting today. First off it has nothing to do with the Little Mermaid (confusion is possible) and it's not a camp name. It's taken from JRR Tolkien's Book of Lost Tales and means "he who dreams alone." It fits me pretty well considering it is both pretentious and strange. My internet persona is different from how I am face-to-face, plus it allows me to remain unknown in a few of my other bloggy dealings.

This is for my fellow staff members: there were questions about the ability to regulate the content of the comments, since myac_staff is an administrator of this blog, so anyone of you who makes up myac_staff can delete comments when needed. Also, as I am not an admin. for this blog my posts can be deleted without needing my permission. Finally! You can shut me up!

I think the parents were worried about outside influences bringing foul language and other things, but in my experience of being a blogger the biggest problem is that of people using the faceless aspects of the internet and starting fights with other commentors and bloggers. Just visit random blogs and you'll see it. The church-related aspect of this blog makes it a little tricky, but we should do fine as we're less prone to fights over theology.

Does anyone need help in setting up blogger accounts or their own blogs? Comment if you do.
